Something to remember about liquid chemical treatments. one that uses older technology, is that until Sentricon, it was the only available method of treatment. This method involves treating the soil around and under your home with hundreds of gallons of chemicals in an attempt to create a barrier between the termite colony and the home. To accomplish this, a trench is dug around the home and the chemical solution is injected into the soil. To try to create a barrier beneath the home, additional liquid chemical may be injected through floors, porches and patios, essentially any plumbing penetration. However, particularly in the Houston area, we have shifting soils that lead to foundation cracks, and it is almost impossible to thoroughly treat your home with liquid chemicals. This option can be very disruptive to your home and landscaping.

It is difficult to distribute the chemical thoroughly, and termites can find their way through the tiniest of breaks. What's more, from the day it is applied, the chemical starts to deteriorate. The product guarantee usually means even more liquid chemical will be used when the barrier breaks down. Most of these treatments must be redone within five years.
